Once Upon A Dot: Experimental Short
This project combines my three loves, character design, typography and collage. It all started with a dot as the initial particle that wouldn’t move but whose meaning would change according to what would happen around it. The same can be said of collage in general, where the meaning of each piece is influenced by what is adjacent to it.
Leaning on my graphic design roots, I built memorable environments around my dot by collaging over twenty different typefaces. Playing with thick and thin as well as negative and positive spaces, I designed iconic characters showing that letterforms and different typefaces can have a personality. The dot acts as a constant thread to link the narrative, ultimately sending the message that all our lives are interrelated.
