Armenian Genocide 100th: Campaign
I designed this poster in commemoration of the Armenian Genocide’s 100th anniversary, which took place on the 24th of April, 2015. The Arabic slogan reads: "Human genocide”. I wanted to highlight the relevance of the Armenian genocide in present day Lebanon and the importance of its recognition by all people and nationalities, not just the Armenians. At the end of the day it’s a human genocide and human genocides are still happening every day.
I incorporated many of the other genocides which have unfortunately taken place around the world, ranging from the holocaust to the Rwandan genocide. I did so by creating rows of human silhouettes being suffocated by trilingual typographic labels indicating nationalities. So often we do not feel concerned by the tragedies happening in other places, mostly due to the labeling of genocides which desensitizes people. It is imperative for all past human genocides to be recognized so that in a 100 years people do not deny today’s genocides.
