Rusted Radishes: Literary & Art Journal
- Marketing & Layout Art Director -
Rusted Radishes features exclusive works from a diverse collection of emerging and established writers and artists whose colorful pieces form a striking cross-genre collage of fluid symbols of the Lebanese psyche in poetry, prose, drama, and art. Housed in the American University of Beirut’s English Department, RR is edited and designed by a staff of faculty and students from both the Departments of English and Architecture and Design.
RR presents the best of student and faculty writing and art at AUB as well as of writers and artists from a broad, even international, scope with a tangible connection to Lebanon. It defines its base as a Beirut publication in hopes of nurturing an evolving creative community that is equally willing to teach, learn, praise, and critique.
Together with fellow art director Sami Karam, we were in charge of designing the layout for the fourth issue TRANS-. Keeping previous issues of the journal in mind for the sake of consistency, but still wanting to be faithful to the theme at hand, we were inspired to configure an elaborate graphic system for the header. The latter was customized depending on the literary genre of each piece (fiction; non-fiction; drama; poetry; fine art…), and was adapted to the bilingual nature of the magazine. Moreover, I was appointed marketing designer for the project, thus creating flyers, promotional posters, postcards, tote bags and stands.
