Neswén El Forn: Satirical Magazine
This magazine is a satirical take on Lebanese housewives, imagined by my fellow graphic designers and I. We covered many aspects of the Lebanese lifestyle including housekeeping, motherhood, plastic surgery and even gossiping. The spreads I designed and which I chose to include within my portfolio explore the theme of local superstitions, ranging from the "evil eye" to more peculiar traditions deeply rooted within Lebanese folklore, and even including the mainstream fear of black cats. What homogenizes the different spreads is the use of photo-montage to produce vibrant results linking the old and the new, as well as transliterations of the Arabic script in order to preserve the vernacular aspect of local sayings and expressions.
